Bath 🇬🇧

Our trip to the UK wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the famous Roman baths in Bath. We’ve been here for over two weeks now, and we’ve had an amazing time. Annette found a little English cottage just a 25-minute walk outside the city center. It’s perched on a hill overlooking the city below, and it’s got a lovely view. The walk down the steep hillside is a bit of a challenge, but the city bus runs every 20 minutes for our trip back up the hill. It’s definitely the nicest Airbnb we’ve stayed in so far on our travels.

The nicest AirBnB we have had so far in our travels

We’ve been exploring the city and the area on foot, and we’re having a lovely time. It’s been a wonderful stop to enjoy more spring flowers and admire the beautiful English Georgian architecture made from Bath Stone, a limestone that’s over 135 million years old. And of course, we couldn’t resist checking out the famous Roman Baths - they are a must-see. We enjoyed it very much and of course being here before peak season helps.

Such a beautiful city to walk and discover

There are plenty of hiking trails nearby, and we’ve been exploring them a lot. Spring in Bath has been lovely, and we’ve been lucky with the weather, which is pretty good for England. We couldn’t help but laugh when the BBC weather forecasters predicted a heat wave settling in during our first week here. They said the forecast high on May 1st was 26C, and there were warnings about staying cool, for reference 26C = 78F. As I mentioned, it brought a smile to the face of this Florida couple. We had a great time, and it was so nice to wear my shorts again for the first time since we left Florida in February.

The weather has cooled down a bit, and while it’s above average, it’s still chilly for us. I’m so glad we both packed our Columbia puffer jackets.

More to come soon.

Until Next Time…
